From the CSA we picked up: kale, zucchini, basil, carrots, baby beets, radicchio, and lettuce.
Saturday I went to PS1 for the Warm up party, which meant tons of dancing. I had so much fun and worked up such an appetite. When I got home there was dinner, all delicious and fresh. James fried the hake, sautéed a sliced zucchini and cooked some brown rice. This was just my kind of dinner! I am really proud of him for expanding his fish horizons. Don't misunderstand, he didn't actually like the hake (it was delicious) but he made a big step just by buying and cooking it. The sauce for the hake was hot and spicy but complimented the fish nicely. The sauce was made with olive oil, parsley, cilantro, garlic, paprika, and cayenne. Lots of yogurt on the side to cool down the fish sauce and some bread and dinner was beyond satisfying. Dessert was a bowl of cool gooseberries and blueberries.
At the farmers market on Saturday morning when I was approaching the fruit stand and I saw the gooseberries at first I was mad because they weren't blueberries. Then I ate one and I forgot all about blueberries. What a prickly delicious little fruit, how come I have never had one before?
Dinner on Sunday was a classic Sunday meal. Juicy chicken, corn on the cob, roasted potatoes carrots, and onions. Everything was from the farmers market. Monday night we had hanger steak, kale, fresh peas, and brown rice. The steak marinated for two days! It was so good my mouth is watering as I write this. Tuesday night was a fresh fava bean risotto. By far my favorite of all the varying risotto's we have had. It was creamy and the fava beans snapped really fresh and delicious in my mouth. I gobbled it all up. Tonight I made more dolma with cabbage and zucchini. I'm a one hit wonder. James is the rtrue culinary artist in this apartment. I know I kind of sped through all of the delicious meals, but I can hardly keep up with James. He cooks something even sweeter, fresher and more delicious then the night before!
Did I mention it is peach season? Who doesn't love peach season? .
