Like a vacation
I have tasted the delicata and I can attest to its greatness. Last night James made an outstanding risotto using the 2 delicata squashes from the CSA. The squash was not what I expected but I guess I wasn't sure what it would be. It was orange inside like a pumpkin, and the seeds were like small pumpkin seeds. The taste was sweet and squashy and buttery and the texture took really well to absorbing flavors while keeping its own character. Red came over and the three of us had a dinner that was "like a vacation". There was a nice breeze coming in through the window, the red wine was flowing, and everybody was happy to be there at that moment. Along with the risotto we had a tuna ceviche dressed with sesame seeds. For dessert James prepared roasted pears filled with goat cheese and enough honey drizzled over it to make a dessert but not so much as to kill the mood of the dish. Everything was from the farmer's market and it all tasted like divine bits of autumn.
And now a picture of a pepper.
