Top Chef

Poached Fluke with Grapefruit
Steamed Asparagus
Bulgur

What was Chef thinking? Everything from concept to execution was off last night. The portions were way too big, everything was overcooked, nothing was seasoned. There was no flavor. I have come to expect more from his fish but in last nights challenge he really disappointed. Fluke isn't something he should be messing up, neither is asparagus. Exactly what the raw grapefruit pulp was doing on top of the fish I will never know. It had no business being there. The fish needed some liquid, a sauce or something, but squeezing the lemon that he provided would have been way too much citrus. A let down.
The asparagus was poached in the cooking liquid of the fish. It was like eating a Twizzler, rubbery and flavorless. Again there was no seasoning. It lacked personality and taste.
The bulgur was the only part of the meal that was cooked properly but there was no taste to it. It was like eating sand.
All in all the entire dish was a total failure on all levels. It had no soul, or reason.
Chef... Please pack your knives and go home. (Until tomorrow night)
